GRATEFUL DEAD X NIKE SB DUNK LOW ORANGE BEAR

Front and center in the Nike SB Dunk Low Grateful Dead is the bandu2019s most lovable symbol, the dancing bears, which first appear on the back cover of the groupu2019s 1973 LP u201cHistory of the Grateful Dead, Volume 1 (Bearu2019s Choice).u201d Set in three colorways, the shoe playfully features bear-inspired detailing, such as a faux-fur and suede upper, a frayed Nike Swoosh mimicking the bearsu2019 collars and an image of the bear on the tongue. (Another iconic Grateful Dead logo, the Steal Your Face skull, is printed on the underside of the sockliner.) The community-rich bond among Dead Heads is even more inviting thanks to the bandu2019s fun, furry ambassadors. The shoe component of the Nothing But the Truth, What the Dunk Low Pro SB, long-running skate video campaign was created from 31 separate Nike SB Dunks. With the design goal of being the “Dunk to End All Dunks”, the creation of What the Dunk was painstaking, meticulous, and purposely ridiculous. Despite the appeal and buzz, an SB Dunk created from the most popular releases ever created, only a limited run was offered to the public.

GRATEFUL DEAD X NIKE SB DUNK LOW YELLOW BEAR

Nike Skateboarding has partnered with the legendary psychedelic rock band the Grateful Dead to release the Nike SB Dunk Low Grateful Dead Bears Yellow, now available from TheGypsyBulldog. The design theme of this collaboration pays homage to the Grateful Dead Bears, a series of stylized dancing bears illustrated by Bob Thomas on the back cover of the History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear’s Choice) album in 1973. The SB Dunk Low Grateful Dead Bears Yellow features a fuzzy yellow faux fur upper with suede overlays and a jagged Swoosh to represent the bear’s chest fur stylization. A hidden pocket is featured within the tongue that is perfect for additional storage. A yellow midsole, blue outsole, and Grateful Dead branding on the tongue complete this euphoric design.

Dubbed u201cChunky Dunky,u201d thisu00a0Nike SB Dunk Lowu00a0sports bright colors that draw inspiration from Ben & Jerryu2019s packaging with a cloudy blue sky underlay and faux fur used on the cow overlays and tongues. The Swoosh logos on the sides represent melting ice cream completed with branded tongues atop a White midsole and Green rubber outsole.
